Welcome to Person of Interest! π
Girl vs Nature’s Person of Interest features interviews with the most interesting and inspirational people I’ve met with Locs. Here’s my first ever! Chantelle, the plant loving British journalist with an amazing set of locs. We discuss locs, coming out of lockdown and more in this fun interview!
Name: Chantelle S.
Location: England π¬π§
Occupation: Journalist π©π½βπ»
Fact: Plant Lover πΏπ
Girl vs. Nature: How long are your locs and would you ever cut them?
C: About 15 years old. I give them a trim- usually a couple of inches if the ends look a bit straggly
Girl vs. Nature: You’re a plant lover. How many plants do you own and which is your favourite?
C: Probably around 30 in total (maybe a bit more!). I don’t tend to have favourites but I have been excited by a few new additions – a Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma, also known as Mini Monstera and a Syngonium ‘Pixie’.
Girl vs. Nature: As a journalist, what’s the most interesting story you ever worked on?
C: Oooh good question. I don’t cover hard news but have had the chance to interview some interesting people from the world of art, music and fashion in my time like Lianne La Havas, Professor Green and Wretch 32.
Girl vs. Nature: Have you ever had any mishaps or funny incidents with your locs?
C: Random shedding is probably the most funny – like one time I was in Costa, one fell out and I got my drink and made a quick dash before anyone realised!

Girl vs. Nature: We’ve come out of Lockdown now. What did you realise you missed the most about being in the real world?
C: Definitely socialising but also just enjoying the city. There are so many places I havent visited in so long that I am eager to rediscover and appreciate once more.
Girl vs. Nature: It’s been reported that at least 1 in 11 Britons have attended a work videocall in pyjamas. Have you ever done this?
C: No! I’m pretty diligent when it comes to having a morning routine and making sure I get up, get showered and dressed.
Girl vs. Nature: What’s the #1 loc tip you swear by?
C: Less is more. Less products, less fuss, less everything and your natural hair will flourish.
Girl vs. Nature: You have quite a few tattoos. which was the most painful?
C: Definitely the one whichis placed on my torso- It was genuinely the only one I found painful.
Girl vs. Nature: Which superheroine do you most identify with?
C: I’m not really a superhero person. I don’t even know enough about that to make a judgement!

Girl vs. Nature: If you could pack your bags and travel anywhere right now, where would you go?
Oh gosh, how long have I got. Right now, I would happily do a round the world trip starting in Asia, then onto Latin America, then over to South Africa making my way up the west African cost then a meander around Southern Europe.
Girl vs. Nature: If I had to describe my loc personality, I’d say feisty. What’s your loc personality?
Plain Jane?! Hahahaha Low-key?! Basic?!
